DIE
SPECS FORM INTRODUCTION
The
following online form was developed to provide you with the most economical
design possible that gets completed as quickly as possible. As you know, we will have to design a few dies for you
before we start getting a good feel for what you require in a die.
Depending on a variety of factors, these requirements will change a great deal
from die to die, or just slightly. Please help us expedite your design or
quotation by providing as much information as you possibly can. If you
would like us to make some of the choices for you or help you in your decision
based on our experience, we'd be happy to. Just click the "as needed" or
"ADD" (Accurate Die Design) selection or put a question mark in the
box, and/or call to discuss the item or items in question. If we see
something that doesn't look right, don't worry, we'll call it to your attention.
When you are ready to print the form so that you can send it to us, type "yes"
in the box at the bottom of the page and press the "Print results to screen"
button. When the results print to the screen, print a copy for your
records and fax or email us a copy.
Some of this information may be covered in a set of die
standards that you have, but oftentimes just because something is in a set of
standards doesn't mean you actually do it that way - standards always seem to
change shortly after you print them. In the case of a tool
and die shop, if you have standards of your own they probably conflict in some
areas with the standards you receive from the metal stamper that you are
building the die for. We're not
trying to avoid responsibility with this form, we just want to avoid having to
redo something if possible and get the design done as quickly and accurately as possible.
Most of the selection boxes are "drop
down" style boxes with a single arrow to the right of the selection
box. These only allow for a single selection per box. There are a few selection boxes
marked with an asterisk with both an
up and a down arrow to their right. These allow multiple selections
and don't "drop down", but require scrolling. The item or items selected in these boxes are the ones
that are highlighted.
You can view the multiple selections
you've made in these boxes by using the scroll arrows at the right of the box. In order to select or deselect multiple items,
just hold the Ctrl key while picking items. If you have a wheel button on
your mouse, we advise against using it on the form for a few different reasons,
one of which is that it scrolls these boxes sometimes without you realizing it.
The small amount of time it takes you to fill out this
form should save you time and money in the long run since it will minimize the
faxes, calls and emails back and forth where we would ultimately need to
communicate this information anyway, and will get you your design more quickly.
